I ended up getting the Hero 7 Black deal at costco for $199. After a week of using it, I was really happy and impressed, its a huge jump from the 4, but before commiting to the 7 and buying accessories, I thought I would give the 8 a try. The difference was really only $70 considering the bundle at Costco includes a battery which I would have GoPro cameras use Wi-Fi to connect to GoPro Quik or a Wi-Fi network for Auto Upload. The cameras use 5GHz or 2.4GHz, depending on the model and region the camera was purchased. HERO12/11/10/9/8/7/6/5 Black, HERO11 Black Mini, HERO7 Silver/White, MAX, Fusion, and HERO5 Session: Ability to select 5GHz or 2.4GHz (depending on region). The Hero5 Black doesn't have useable stabilization and the 5 Session never had it to begin with. The Hero7 White would be your choice here. If you check out Mic Bergsma's comparison video on YouTube, the 7 White actually performs better than the 7 Silver.
